The DMU Leicester Riders scored their second victory of the season over Midlands rivals the Birmingham Bullets with a 96-74 win on Saturday night.

The DMU Leicester Riders scored their second victory of the season over Midlands rivals the Birmingham Bullets with a 96-74 win on Saturday night.

After trailing early on, the Riders made a 13-2 tear mid-way through the first quarter to lead 20-11. The visitors came back in the second period, led by Dino Tanner’s 12 points, including 6 of an 8-0 burst to bring them back to within one at 38-37.

After the half-time break, the Riders rattled off 10 unanswered points, including two threes from Ryan Huntley, to take a double-digit advantage (59-49). 4 points from Jeff Bonds got Birmingham back in it before a further two triples from Huntley and one from Joel Burns stretched Leicester’s lead to 68-55.

The home side opened the final period with an 18-7 run to effectively settle the game.

Ryan Huntley led the scoring with 24 points, shooting 8/13 from beyond the arc, whilst Tony Holley posted 14 points and 16 boards and Robert Reed made 10 points and 15 boards on a night when all of the Riders players got on the scoresheet. In response Dino Tanner scored 17 with Jeff Bonds and Matt Kemper scoring 16 each for the Bullets.
